How old is your beardie? A baby? A 20 long will not last very long as they grow very quickly...a 40 gallon breeder would do as an adult, but bigger is always better...No not all beardies are the same with color morphs, there are alot of different morphs out there, lol.. Ok, you will need: Heat lamp and bulb, and a uvb, only get the ReptiSUN 10 long tube, or the ReptiGLO 8 long tube, do not get any compacts or coiled uvb’s due to them causing health issues. Digital thermometer with a probe or a temp gun for acurate temp readings. For substrate use non sticky shelf liner, paper towel, repti carpet, or tile.. Food and water dish basking rock or log A hide to sleep in or cool off. Supliments which are Calcium without D3 and it should also be Phosphorus free, another calcium with D3, and a Multivitiman. Don’t go crazy with decorations as beardies like lots of floor space. Temps for a baby at the basking spot should be 110-115f, the air around the basking spot should be mid 90’s, and the cool end should be mid 80’s. They should be bathed 2-3 x a week, in luke warm water up to the shoulders, for a 10-15 period Babies should be offered pin head crickets 3 x a day, as much as they will eat in a 10-15 min period, and remove any uneaten ones as they may chew on your baby. Fresh greens should be offered every day. Go to beautiful dragons.com for a great list of greens and insects... They do not need any heat sourse at night, as long as temps do not go below 65f or so.. Well, i have Crested Geckos, they are easy to care for , they do not need any lights what so ever, but they are night dwellers so you will not see them much during the day, they come out at night..they can be raised on fruit, but mine love crickets, lol...need high humidity to but they are cool! And gorgeous, and you can handle them... Nancy. |
