 Slowed eating

Alright Beardie i just got 4 days ago has been eating to date:

Sat- 9 crix, 2tsp of vegs- mustard greens and parsley
Sun- 23 crix, 1 tsp of vegs- mustard greens, parsley, and summer squash. He pooped.
Mon- 17 crix, 4 sm white mealies, sm. amount of vegs listed for sun.
Tues- Vegs bout 1 tsp listed earlier, 2 crix and thats it, he also pooped during his bath and consumed a bit of his bath water before he pooped.

Basking spot is 112F, cool end 89F. He has UVB and multivitamins and calcium.

Could it be he hasnt realized where his water bowl is? I’m misting him slightly at nite. Is lowering food intake normal. He is not cloudy or shedding lookish but IDK when the last time he shed was. Maybe im just being an over worried mother. Either way does everything sound okay to you?

It sounds to me like you’re doing everything right. Your bearded dragon’s loss of appetite is probably a result of stress caused by his move into your home. This is normal and he’ll probably be fine and back to normal by next week.

he also may be preparing himself to shed, just without any visible signs on his skin. my beardie’s appetite changes drastically as she prepares to shed, and during her shed cycle. just keep doing what youre doing now, and keep us posted with any changes or other concerns.

PS - mealworms are not ideal food. try butter, wax, super, silks, or horned (depending on your dragons size)

Wax worms for a rare treat only, they are junk food, lol, and i agree, never feed meals...and no supers unless your beardie is over 6 months at least...and yes, it could also be him starting a shed, when mine shed, sometimes they won’t eat either, keep us posted.

Nancy.

Actually, it’s okay to feed bearded dragons white meal worms that have just shed. They are soft and haven’t regrown their indigestible exoskeleton yet.
