Bruminating?
I have been researching and stuff so I know what I would be doing plus I know someone who will be helping me, he has been breeding bearded dragons for about 30 years, so he knows what he’s doing. But what I wanted to know was what you guys/gals saw as mistakes when you started of which helped you out until now. In other words how have you progressed as a breeder, of bearded dragons, any mistakes that new breeders make that you guys/gals have and now know to stray away from. Thanks. |

He must be Bob Mallioux then, lol. There were no dragons here until the 80’s I believe, but anyway... My biggest mistake early on was actually incubating every egg I got. It’s really just too much for me to handle and the expense of bugs makes it barely profitable at all. I now only hatch out 1-2 clutches per year (40-50 dragons) and it is MUCH more enjoyable not being overwhelmed or trying to ram too many into cages. That leads to toe and tail nips on one another no matter how much you feed them. Keep it simple and just hatch out one clutch the first year. Then you can progress if you want to. Despite lofty expectations, it takes months and months to sell all your dragons even when they are beautiful morphs or whatever. |

Well he is my dad’s friend. He said that he knew a guy that recieved the first pair of bearded dragons from some zoo they were normals and he has been breeding them ever since. He knows some reputable breeders. I think it was either from sandfire dragons or from sunshine dragons. Wasn’t really paying attention to what he was saying.haha Well it is almost about 30 years considering that we are in 08. All I know is he has been breeding bearded dragons for a very long time. He has been since the begining with only normals being available. I also have another question. Well I breed crested geckos so I know that in one breeding season a female can lay 4 clutches. How does it work with bearded dragons? Do the male and female only have to couplate one time and she only has one clutch? Or is it multiple clutches during one breeding season like a gecko but in bigger quantities? Am I making sense?lol |

Can anyone clarify the concept of the clutches? Since I am a little confuse. Is it just one time having sex and then one clutch? Or is it like crested geckos? One time having sex and 4 clutches arive? |
