 A Dragons Coloring Question

Anyone know (just curious) how the colors of the babies are determined? Is it a mixture of the male & female genitics, like with humans, where you could get mixed traits or one is more dominate or does the male or female ultimately have the say? Anyone know? Thanks

 A Dragons Coloring Question

Some traits are dominant-recessive, some are codominant. It’s a complicated mix. Generally, color is a mix of the parents yes. But when dragons are het for a recessive trait (like Leucism or Albinism), that trait is masked by the dominant coloration which may be normal or blood or sandfire or whatever morph they may be. Via trial and error, you can determine the genetics by seeing what the babies become. Most things are Mendelian with color, but with lots of different genes controlling things. It’s almost too much to get into on a forum explaining this stuff.
