 I think I have a major problem.

My female beardie laid 12 eggs at 6:11 PM on Monday july 12th , I’ve since taken the eggs, placed then in a incubator at a constant 84 degrees F on a moist pearlite substrate with the box having a roughly 80% humidity. Well, the eggs seem as though they are beginning to collapse, and I dont believe that this is normal. However this is my first clutch of eggs and this is the females first time laying also. What am I doing wrong?

If they are collapsing already they were probable infertile.

Is there a way to tell if the eggs are infertile? Because two or three aren’t collapsing yet, and from what I’ve read if there are hat look like blood vessels the eggs are normally fertile, and I candled them yesterday and all but two had thick prominent vessels.

hi,

when you moved the eggs did you make sure not to rotate them at all. it is very important not to turn them at all. this can cause them to drown and die.

when you say in the box can you clarify. we kept ours in a box on vermiculite but pearlite is also good. we had air holes on the lid and the lid closed. as a rough guide the inside of the box should be covered in condensation but the condensation line should not be above the pearlite. if it is too wet leave the lid off the tub for ventilation. too dry add water a little at a time so as to not overwet the substrate.

your temps in the incubator are good. all you can do is just wait and hope the eggs swell up again.

can you post pics?
