The light kicks on when the thermostat wafer tells it to heat up. The light goes off when it’s up to temp.

A Hoova bator is a good way to incubate eggs, they are reliable and cheap, but you may end up needing two if you have to many eggs.

I built my own incubator with a digital proportional thermostat and a wine chiller fridge. It holds 3 species of monitor eggs and beardie eggs when at capacity. Hovabators are OK and are cheap, but the wafer stats are famous for getting stuck in the "on" position if they are kept in humid conditions for a couple years (= omlettes).

Krusty is right they do loose reliability over time due to the humidity. Usually its the snap switch thats the problem, and it can be replaced by contacting the company. -Jay

Digital thermometer with high and low temp recall is your best best, with a regular digital being the second choice. -Jay

i have herd of hatchrite and it is pointless, all it is, is a pre moistened substrate, you may aswell just stick to vermiculite it is cheaper and is not hard to prepare lol

Total waste of money. A bag of perlite (huge amount that will last you many years) is like $10 at Home Depot. I have nearly 100% hatch rates with monitors, dragons and everything just wetting down this cheap material. Why monkey with what works?
