I have a 2 year old male and a 16 month old female, well usually when I let them visit he is mean to her, he will bite her tail, even though she is being a good girl and will not bother him but anyway I put her in his tank today while I was cleaning hers. And wam out of no where he grabs the back of her neck and well you know what came next, was odd for me cause that’s the first time I’ve seen it. He is a sandfire and she’s yellow I think they will make beautiful babies, but the thing is I’m kinda scared now.. I’m sooo afraid of messing things up like really bad, this is my first time. I have the incubator, the lights, and tanks ready for babies but still not sure what to do, cause I’ve search the net and found many many sites with info but seems to all be different sooo I’m stuck and not sure which site to follow and trust. So I have a few questions for you people who actually breed dragons and deal with this stuff... 1. How many time will they breed? (do I leave her so they can do it again or was once enough) 2. Being this is their first time breeding does it usually take or fail? 3. How long do I need to wait before putting a laybox? 4. Anything special I need to be doing with her? (as in a bath every day, more heat, ect...) 5. His tank is a little bigger than hers, should I switch them and give her the most room now? 6. Do I still dust her food and stuff the same? And pleaseeeeeee feel free to give more advice, tips, and ideas! And if they hatch does anyone need some dragons lol? |

Message To: Ganner In reference to Message Id: 1790358 I’m freaking out. They just bred... HELP
As for the lay box I made one with a rubbermaid tub. I took a 70 qt. clear one with locking lid and cut the center of the lid out and fastened wire 1/2"x 1/2" squares got it at lowes, filled the container from about 5 " deep to about 10" in a slope using potting soil with no chemicals. Then when I see the females scratching around I transfer her to the container and put a heat lamp and let her be. They usually don’t eat but I do keep fresh water and some greens in the lay box for her.
I kept the diet the same dusted the only thing I did do was give her more fats a pinky once a week before and after the eggs. That is something you can decide for yourself because that seems to be a huge fight on the forums whether to feed pinky and mice. If she likes to takes baths then go for it the less stress the better for her, hope I gave you some help and good luck with her hope she lays you eggs and I am always looking for for fires to use for breeding male and female. |
