Ahh Crap... Eggs and not prepared...Help Please!
 I know, I know, I Know......
How can you put a male and female together and NOT be prepared for babies.... Simple really... these are my first dragons, and i didnt think the female was old enough.. Nuff Said, lets skip the lectures = D
Anyhow, I noticed Aggi digging today at the tile floor. Ive been doing this long enough to recognize the signs, so i made her a lay box. about 3 hours later, and now i have 17 Fertile Beardie eggs. I have no Incubator, so i put the eggs in tupperware tubs half full of a mix of Eco-earth and Peat moss and placed the containers on top of the mix in the lay box where the temp is about 85, for the night.
I live in pretty Rural area of Texas. Can i pick up an incubator at a feed store? I know how to take care of the babies, and they should be pretty amazing... Aggi is a Pastel Snow/citrus cross and Aggro (the Daddy) is an orange Tiger/Sandfire....
Any help anyone can offer will help greatly.
Thanks in Advance...Boola

Ahh Crap... Eggs and not prepared...Help Please! yeah you should be able to buy some form of still air hovabator, you could make one using a large polysteirene box a het mat and a pulse thermostat, temps in the incubator should ideally be around 83 degrees faranheit, i use vermiculite in my incubators and humidity, i dont check but there should be condensation up the sides not above the vermiculite, oh yeah if you use lil tuppaware boxes you can fill them with vermiculite aswell, that way the substrate below the containers can be much wetter for better humidity

The eggs are white, but spongy, Kind of Twinkie-like. I am correct in thinking they are fertile, correct?

Ahh Crap... Eggs and not prepared...Help Please! Hey Boola, Yes..go to the the feed store, shouldn’t be more than $40 bucks. I have a foam hovabator and I have just hatched my first clutch of Beardie eggs in it at a temp of 86 to 88 and with the tray under the wire with water. It works great...just keep your eggs moist and warm and get to the feed store first thing in the am and all should be well

Ahh Crap... Eggs and not prepared...Help Please! Boola ...why do you need i=an incubator ...the reptile store just up the street has a rack system uop at the front behind the counter ...and they have whatever light and CHE to keep temps in the 85 - 88 range ..and all the nsakies are hatching....all small tupperware ...vermiculite ...but eco eatrh and moss is great too.
What temps do you need ... I know that too low is bad 85 ....lowest ? and too high 90?
But if kept just so ....what is the concern that an incubator eliminates????

Ahh Crap... Eggs and not prepared...Help Please! I see people putting temps like 85 and 90?! Is this true?! Everything I have read said not to go above 84.5, ive never seen any literature that refers to this high of a temperature for bearded dragons.....can anyone else help me with this?

Ahh Crap... Eggs and not prepared...Help Please! Easiest thing to do is go to the dollar store and pick up a styrofoam cooler cut a hole in the top for teh heat lamp fixture get a water bottle and a therometer....i hatched my first two and only two clutches with this method. If eggs start to darken hold the bottle back about 4 feet and mist the eggs with 2 sprays. replace the lid and top of the cooler. 86-88 degrees is a pretty good temperature to keep it at no need to get one of those humidity thingys.....just simply mist them from farm back like i said 4 feet so you dont suffocate the embryo inside the egg. The eggs has pores is breathes out of and if you get to much water on them the egg will die. Or you could go to big apple.com and buy a hovabator for 40$
Thanks, Derik

Ahh Crap... Eggs and not prepared...Help Please! You can get a regular chicken egg incubator at a feed store. Just make sure it doesn’t have the turner things, lol.
Have you separated the dragons?

Ahh Crap... Eggs and not prepared...Help Please! sorry i never even thought to mention, yes i have mine set at 83f but i use a pulse thermostat so there isnt much variation with my temps, but if your gunna use a plain oll heat mat thermostat they have a variation of like 5 degrees so you might wanna set it a lil higher just to avoid tmps dropping too low, obviously this only applies if youre gunna build your own incubator.

Ahh Crap... Eggs and not prepared...Help Please! My Temps are about 85F. I bought a Little Giant Incubator from the feed store for about 40 bucks. I already lost one egg, but the rest seem to be doing just fine. I will post pics soon.
I have not been able to separate the parents yet. I am a little strapped for cash at the moment, but I am getting a new cage for the female this weekend. I would use a tub, but i have never been able to keep the temps right in a tub.
Thanks everybody for your help. Ill keep you all posted on the progress

Ahh Crap... Eggs and not prepared...Help Please! 83*F is pretty ideal. When you incubate in the upper 80’s the babies are born faster, smaller and sometimes very fritzy and aggressive behaviors. I’d shoot for 83 and expect about 60-70 days. There are lots of ways to incubate eggs. I’ve just left nearly sealed containers in a room that is in the low 80’s and had 100% hatch rates. You usually have to adjust water in this way while an incubator will prevent as much need for messing with adding water.

Ahh Crap... Eggs and not prepared...Help Please! Once again, I am glad you got your incubator. I learned to incubate at 83 degrees. If the temps drop to 82 degrees it just means longer incubation time...if it increases to 84, do not panic...I have had 85 degrees and everything was fine. I do believe you have to trend what is going on with your temperatures...much the same way that you trend your weight when you step on the scale...I do believe scales are different as well as thermostats... just stay within the 83-85 degrees and I think you will be fine. I think that having an incubator is the best way for newbies to learn the hatching process. It just seems that it takes some of the guesswork out of it that experienced people have from hatching a few clutches. Take good care and let us know how things are progressing, B
