 HELP!

My bearded dragon has been acting strange ever since I bought it.. When I first bought it, it was crawling all over the tank it was in but when I got home it didn’t move and all it did was look up at the UVA light.. I have a heater next to the tank to help it get really nice and hot.. But now he has started to have spasms and he is hopping and thrashing around the sand. It also hasn’t eaten anything except for an apple I put infront of it’s face and now it won’t take anything. PLEASE HELP!

 HELP!

Hey,

What type of UV bulb do you have for him?

Is he getting any calcium? If he is, make sure it does not have any D3. D3 can be toxic and may cause the symptoms that you are talking about.

How old is he? If he is a baby I would suggest getting him off the sand until he gets bigger. The safest for a baby is paper towels, non adhesive shelf liner, tile, repti carpet, newspaper.....

How long have you had him? It will take him a while to start eating, but once he gets used to his new surroundings should be ok.

What are the temps in his tank? Remember he does not need any heat at night as long as the temps in his tank don’t get below 60 degrees.
