 OT: I have babies!!!

Well, after a long 51 days, my friend cut my ball python eggs a tiny bit to check on them today and this is what he found!

Egg 1

Egg 2

Egg 3

Egg 2

That’s all for now, don’t want to disturb them. Now we just wait some more!

awww good luck babies are always so cute

but why did you cut the eggs? if the babies are not ready you could kill them, there is usually never any reason to cut an egg especially before they even started pipping

maybe it is different for snakes idk good luck

Yeah, it’s a bit different with snakes. I don’t know how it is with lizards since the only ones I’ve bred are house geckos and they just hatched on their own, but with snakes, my understanding is that some of them don’t develop an egg tooth and can be stuck in the egg and die so most breeders cut the eggs to avoid it.

One of them popped it’s head out!!!!

Another one is almost completely out, but it looks as if it got squished beneath another egg. I’m not sure if it’s alive but my friend says it might be, so we’ll see.

Unfortunately, the squished one didn’t make it. :(

My friend uses aspen for all of his incubation and he’s never had any bad luck with it yet, so that’s what he used for mine as well. It’s pretty good at holding heat and humidity that I’ve seen. The only downfall is that it turns the eggs a brownish color with all of the humidity.
