 New babies not really eating

Hi
I have a question for anyone who can help me. My new little ones ( 2 one month olds) still do not seem to eat much. I give them salad every day and 1/4 in crix (50 -100, for two B.D’s.), but most are still left over in the evening. I have tried to feed them in another tank, but this just stresses them and they try to get out or just seem to panick lots and do not eat. They have a uvb 10.0 and their basking spot is 110-112. Lights on for 14 hours a day. Is there anything else I can do? I work twelve hour shifts and when I am not at hyome I leave the food (crix) in until I get home, with the salad and two egg holders for shelter so not to bother the dragons after lights are out before I get home. ANY SUGGESTIONS... ANYBODY?
Thanks

which brand of uvb is it?

how long have you had them?

you might try to put the crickets in a dish(that they cant get out of but the babies can see in)
and that might get them to eat a little better than having the crickets all over

they are really young to have been sold to you so this doesnt help the situation

have you been giving them baths?

whats the cool side?

what kind of thermometer are you using to measure the temps with?

what substrate are you using?
are they pooping?

what suppliments do you offer and how often?

have you noticed any bullying? you will eventually need to seperate them especially if they are both males or male and female, two females may get along especially since they are so young but there is no guarentee

after answering the questions hopefully we can help you better

Thanks for the input lovetheleo
I have had the dragons for about 2 weeks and I agree they were to young to be sold, but I was originally told they were 4 months old. I use a repti sun 10.0. If I put the crix in a deep dish that they can not get out of... how will the dragons get to them to eat them? Yes I gave them a bath the other day and I have seen them soak for a while in the water dish in the tank (pooped in the water as well). Yes they are pooping daily. I use repcal and reptivite as supplements. Repcal 3 times a week and reptivite 2 times a week. I use a digital probe thermometer andthe cool side is around 80-85. There does not seem to be any bullying yet, they seem to get along ok. If there is anything else I can do or that I am doing wrong.

Hi Dragons Quest
Thanks for the input. Yes I would be stressed out if I had crix crawling all over me at night. I do try to take them out when I get home... the dragons sleep in the vines they have. I will try the 5-10 at a time idea and see what happens.

well make the dish deep enough that they can get into it but the crickets cant get out

a glass dish works well b/c they crickets cant climb it

as far as suppliments

you need a pure calcium(no phosphorus or vit. d3) to dust crickets 5x a week
and you need a calcium with vit. d3(if your multi vitamin doesnt have it) to dust 1x a week
and you need a multivitamin to dust 1x a week

Thanks for the input... lovetheleo
I do use the supplements regularily. I need some clarification from you on the calcium. Are you saying to use calcium with out D3, 5 days a week.. vitamins once a week and calcium with D3 once a week. I was under the impression from other owners and enthusiasts that they need the D3 regularily to assist with bone development and that the calcium with no D3 is not really recomended unless using a vitamin with the D3 in it. Have I misunderstood this information or is it open to interpretation. I have ordered the Bearded Dargons secrets revealed book in e-book form but have yet to download it (my new computer is not up yet), so a lot of these questions will most likely be answered in the book, but until then, and even after... anyones creditable two cents worth is good for me. I tried the glass bowl idea today and it seemed to work ok... I will see when I get home tonight what actually took place during the afternoon and evening (I am on the noon til midnight shift today)
Thanks again for the advise

 New babies not really eating

Hi
Well all seems to be going good. They are eating much better and getting used to their new enviroment. I will be weighing them in the next day or so (just got a food scale) to monitor their growth. I am also trying out silkworm raising and got some butter and wax worms to try out on all my pets (except the snakes of course). I will be getting some phoenix worms next week and look forward to trying them out on my 3 year old beardie "Spike" who may have MBD, from his previous owners. I will keep you posted on the progress.

sorry it took so long to get back

but yes the pure calcium is 5x a week and a calcium w/ d3 1x a week

too much d3 can be toxic
also if you multi vit has d3 you dont need to dust with d3 b/c it is in the vitamins

and silkworms are a great food so are pw
they grow so fast and good luck with your 3 yr old

 New babies not really eating

Hi
Thanks for getting back to me. I have been using the calcium with d3, so as well as the vitamins/D3 and dusting with it, so I will change that routine and get some pure calcium for thier calcium bowl. I have not received the phoenix worms yet... should be coming this next week some time, but I am looking forward to seeing how they go over. I just got an incubator for the silk eggs and will try to hatch them. I also got some wax worms and butter worms but the leos and my 2 month old beardies don’t care for them at all right now. I am also trying my hand at leting a few of the small mealworm pupate into beetles to give them all a change in prey item. I’ve been experiening some small red ferrell ants in my apartment, causing me all kinds of problems. I am having property management call pest control to put some bsit traps down... what a pain! I will let you know how it all goes.

Ok I’ll hold off on the beetles... at least in large quantities, or regularily. The silkworms hatched and are doing well. I got about 50 out of 200 or so that I started. I am starting a couple hundred more.
Can beardies eat fig leaves... I know they can eat figs raw, but what abnout the leaves?
