WOOHOO!!! LOOK WHAT I BUILT TODAY!!!
So, as many of you know, CP came out this week....he was going to pick up an enclosure for me, but the deal fell through. So, we decided he should build me a condo. OK....I decided and he said, "Anything for you babe." lol First he met Uma....
Next day....WE got busy!!!!!.............with the condo. Shelf was around $80 on sale. For the sides of the enclosure we used privacy panel. (but the neighbors still saw because we were in the front yard.) $29.99 for the 4x8 privacy panel sheet which looks like lattice. Everything found at his favorite store. Home Depot. He’d live there if they’d let him. ROFL To attach the privacy panel we used 1/2 inch self tapping pan head screws.
For the flooring, I went with the sheet vinyl. It seals the wood.....such EASY clean up....and I can always add tile without having to grout. $25 for sheet vinyl, glue and a throw away trowel.
For the shelves.....he first cut the sheet vinyl to fit:
Then he glued it to the shelving with one quart of environmentally safe Roberts 3300 multi purpose carpet and sheet vinyl adhesive, solvent free.
Then he rubbed with cloth to get all air bubbles out....or in his words..... to make sure to create a good bond and proper adhesive transfer.
BUTT!!!!!!!!!!!
He wasn’t done yet!!! He had to trim misc overage with utility knife.
Wipe off any excess adhesive and drop shelves in.
Assemble the back using OSB and attached each individual level is cut to size with 1/4-20 x 3/4 machine nuts and bolts. Assembled from the inside, pre drilling and using the existing key way in the framing, in order to make it a tight seal.
Fully assembled and brought inside with the help of a neighbor.
1x2s were attached to the ceiling of each level for the sliding acrylic panels.
We installed, upside down, a 48" white shelving track ($3.47 each) for the bottom panel so the plexiglass could easily slide. For a sheet of 46" x 72" of the acryic clear sheet we paid $43.99 and the second sheet we got for half off because the bottom was broken. Lowe’s cuts it for free.
An hour or so later, the lights were installed....the cords were run....the six pack units were plugged in. For $9.97 each we purchased at home depot of course, a 48 inch dual fluorescent fixture in which we will install a regular UVB reptisun 10.0 and a full spectrum 6500K bulb. (NOTE - Home Depot has a 10 pack of the full spectrum 6500K bulbs for $20.) The lighting is amazing...the full spectrum allows the dragons to fully see the way they are supposed to see, because the 6500k emulates true daylight.
The Tree???? Did you say a Tree???? I would call it a BOA BRANCH.....lol Chris stopped about 150 miles away and picked up a large dead standing cottonwood or willow. CP Stripped!!!!!!! The tree, that is. lol
Chris asked the neighbor, 82 year old Bud, if he had a draw knife. He did...it sent CP to heaven. You should have seen this boy with his new toy. lol
After spending half a day sanding the tree and smoothing out all the burrs and knot holes, etc....he then sealed it with satin varathane water based spray. He mounted it to a 2 x 4 x 16" with a 2 x 10" center.....base with 1/2" x 5" lag bolts.
Not only did Uma love her new tree. But Androth had a treemendous time.

Lance , I just added up the costs without tax ...including misc, like caulking and all screws and fasteners and a 10 pack of 6500K , 4 UVB’s from LLL reptile including shipping... if I missed anything it would be meaningless at this point ....ready .... 401.85...not including tax , the sales tax here in Utah is 6.5% according to what I found..Yep that would be cool to sell the stumps and branches...shipping would be the pits $$$ The branch pushed it another 24.00 I have thought about that ...hmmm Quote: Chris I bet you would survive "Survior" show looks like you got some skillz!!
