 Any more ideas?

So, an update on Zeke. He didn’t eat for two days and last night he atarted eating about 18-20 crickets. Maybe he only needs to be fed crickets once a day now????? My son said tonight he ate like a pig.. He is pooping okay. Should I still be cutting up his greens into little pieces. He doesn’t eat much salad. Now I am trying dandelion greens mixed with bokchoy cut up in tiny pieces. I add other cut up veges and a little cut up fruit. Could he not want the tiny crickets anymore and now want medium size and less than the tiny ones? Any ideas?

he could have not ate if he was shedding. if he is eating alot of crickets u might want to try a bigger size.
i start my babies on 5 week old crickets. not everyone agrees but i have never had any problems with inpaction.

If I remember correctly, baby Zeke is about 6 months old now?? If so, then yes.. I would agree you would be safe to move to a medium cricket. If the crickets are too small... they figure why waste time going after them. Mine did. I would still feed/ offer them at least three times a day. He will decide if he wants to eat them or not. I recently moved mine up to bigger crickets, and they seem very happy about it. Just watch that pooping! :)

As for greens, mine dont eat much either. Zippy will take a bite, meanwhile Roxy doesnt touch them. I still offer them a little salad. The crickets always like it! LOL -- however I would be generous on the fruit. It is good every now and then, but not as a staple food. Different greens & spuash is a good stable food. I just switch my greens up each time I buy. They tend to be more tempted with Dand greens then the others. Yes, you should cut them into small pieces! I grade my squash for the adults and then also chop it up for the babies, and the color temps them! :) LOL -- what ever works!

You can also offer him other things then the crickets. I gave mine phoenix worms, and they LOVED them! BUT... right after that they would not eat crickets. LOL -- they only wanted worms. I bought them mediums, and they were the perfect size. High in calcium.

Sorry it took so long, but I got caught up in cooking dinner. I started my lasagna a little too late. LOL-- ooopsy. Oh well.. still tasted good. :)

As for not eating... its so hard to predict! Although when they are shedding... they really dont want to eat. Hog did not eat for 2 days. HE CLOSED HIS EYES AT CRICKETS!! And trust me... that is not normal!! (hence his name--lol) -- and now he has a UGLY shed going on.
So, there are many reasons why he may not have eaten.... I wouldnt worry if he is eating ok. Watch for hydration though! ....

Thanks, the Lasagna sounds good. Too bad you live so far away from Chicago-lol. He shed about two weeks ago and I don’t see any signs of it now. We just turned on the air conditioning yesterday(set it at 80) because my asthma couldn’t take the humidity. Don’t know if it was too humid for him or if he just wasn’t hungry for a couple days. He seemed a bit jumpier the last two days. Maybe I should stop looking for trouble and just accept that sometimes I won’t know the reason. But my son said he ate tonight. When I say fruit, I mean an eighth of a strawberry or one cut up blueberry and most of the time he doesn’t eat the fruit either. Do I still cut up peas in half? Is there a really good beardie book out that gets this specific-like a good baby guide( a la leche guide for beardies-lol-you all should put one together and make millions.) What other changes should I expect over the next few months-ages 6-9 months? Thanks for all your patience-I never had Rocky as a baby so I have no experience.

LOL -- yeah, there isnt a reason for everything they do. They are funny with some of the stuff they do, and I think maybe it is just a mood they are in. Not a reason.
Sounds like you are doing everything right. Just keeping doing it, and dont be like me and be a ’worried mom’ all the time! :)
Not too much will change for him other then growth. But just remember as they get older, their eating usually slows. I say usually, cause not ALL do... but for the most part they do. HOG still eats like a hog...and that is him. Although, the older they get... their diet will become more vegeterian. Greens and squash will become a staple, and not so many crickets. For the adults... I feed crickets 1-2 times a week, and same for worms when they get them. Other then that, veggies and some occasional fruit.
The lasagna actually turned out real good. YUMMY. :) --I would ship it, but you wouldnt want it by the time it got there. LOL
My air conditioner stays on during the summer. It gets so hot here, that we dont turn it off at all for months. Just up and down. Although, I have never noticed that being a change in their activity... but it may. At night (since the air is on and blows near HOGs tank) I near on a ceramic heat lamp. Both my adults have one... and the babies are not ina cold/breezy area. Im sure he would even be fine without it.
I dont think you need to cut the peas in half. They should be fine for him now... do you know his weight? Or even length?.. I need a idea of his actual size... but peas are pretty small and not hard. I do still cut my green beans for the adults, although im sure they would be fine if i didnt. Kinda wierd.... HOG seems to like green bean fries over fresh green beans! When I say GBF... I mean, the ones that sit in his tank over night and dry from the heat lamp. He will go over and crunch away! If I replace with fresh.. he walks away.
Just follow by your babies actions. He will let you know how he likes stuff.
Hope I answered all questions.... im sure others have an oppinion too. :)

Thanks Nina. It just takes time to get to know their habits. He’s two oz. and about 11 inches long. I’m not a Math person, so I don’t know how many grams that is. It’s about 3/4 inches between his eyes. He didn’t appreciate being measured and didn’t want to hold still. And right now he doesn’t seem interested in crickets until about 6 or 7 PM. I make him a salad every morning and place him in front of it. I don’t see him eat much of it. Sometimes he’ll take a bite or two. He tries to scratch the newspaper and climb under it and then gets upset when he can’t get back out. He wants to run and jump everywhere until he gets tired and then goes to sleep. He is alert-a little startled by the trains that go by or helicopters or airplanes. We can’t afford to run the airconditioner much since my husband is still unemployed. Today it is cool and dry out. I have had to mist the gecko several times. I’ll try and post some pics later. Should learn to do it myself. Have a favorite one posted on fanartreview under Janmccri plus some other past and present entries. I love taking photos. Thanks for the input. I’mopen to everyone’s suggestions.
