basilsks are cheap here in florida lowest ive seen is 40 dollars lol.

because certain reptiles are so cheap, people don’t bother to find out any proper information on them because they don’t care all that much if they die. its sad, but happens with a lot of different reptiles.

I had heard that one reason why basilisks are so cheap is because they are quite prolific breeders. Another reason might be that they are invasive to Florida and (I think) Louisiana, so it may depend on where you live. Basilisks might be cheaper in the southeastern states of the U.S.A. than anywhere else in the country, and definately more expensive internationally. Also, sometimes when a lizard species has a high mortality rate in pet shops, they will be cheaper so that they get sold quickly to someone who may be able to provide better care. Basilisks are still quite new to the pet trade (relatively speaking) I believe, so their specific care requirements might still be largely unknown by reptile sellers and distributors.

These are my guesses, anyway. But I think RepticZone is altogether pretty dead right now. Try waiting until later on in the year.
