thanks, she is. don’t be intimidated my her when her mouth is open like that.she was just posing.and by the way when i first got her the owner said she wasn’t gonna live because she was sick.But I nursed her back to health.

I’ve got two green basalisks myself, but no brownies! One of my GBs was given to me by a friend that unfortunately didn’t care for the little guy qutie well. However, I too was able to get him healthy again.

I call everything a he when i dont pay attention to the sex.
An enclosure could cost $100-$300 depending on what you use to build it. Like what kind of wood, size, what you use for the door, what you use to seal it, what kind of light set-up you have, pools,pumps, filters, foilage.

Take a look at this water dragon enclosure thread, it will give you some ideas since they require pretty much the same care.

Hey guys I found this one in my basement. I gonna remove the shelves and put sticks into it.I gonna take out one of the glasses and replace it with a screen so she can breath.Is it ok to put the heatlamp inside the cage with nothing under it. Or will it burn her. i was thinking to drill a hole at the top and put the heat lamp in.Ive saw people with the heatlamp in the cage.I dont want to destroy it so im not gonna just cut out the top and put a screen there. Is this a good cage or do I still need to look for another one?

Well did you look at that waterdragon thread with alot of great examples?
What are the dimensions of that thing?
You most likley have to waterproof the inside if you plan on making that a permanent enclosure; polurethane and silicone.
You dont need to replace the front with screen, the glass will hold in heat and humidity(and you’ll see some of that in that enclosure thread).
If i were you, i would cut 1-2 holes on top for heatlights, and if your a ubv person then another hole. I would have the whole heatlamp sit on the top of the cage with screen under it, so s/he can use the whole cage for climbing without a heatlight in the way.
And she wont burn herself if you use the right wattage bulbs, and a thermometer.

The dimensions are 3 ft. 5in. tall and 2 ft. 9in. in width. And I will seal it off after I make sure that this cage will be a good one.How will she breath if i keep the whole thing shut and sealed? I checked out the waterdragon thread and the cages were awesome but I don’t have the room or the money for cages like that.Ill ask around more before I get the whole heat lamp idea working. But thanks for the advise and ideas.

I wouldnt use it as a permanent cage; i like to say that the dimensions for a basilisk should be around 4x2x4(lxwxh).
Just open it once a day or whenever you spray it.

I don’t know it looks like a dissent cage it isn’t that tall but I think its tall enough. Its the only thing in my budget and the only thing I can find. How long would you say I can keep her in there for Dislimbed? I really need answers quick.

Basilisks can get 2-3 feet, and the enclosure should be about double the length of the lizard, so when that time comes.
It is a decent cage though so just do what you can.

Yeah basilisks arent that popular so the traffic is pretty low.
They are diurnal(active during daytime)and aboreal(hang out in trees) so you dont need a heatpad. Just overhead lights during the day.
For a good cage just have some branches, plants, and a nice swimming area i guess...Make it pretty .

are you sure? my bassie sometimes goes down there when the light breaks or something.And im pretty sure they need them. Ive been using them for as long as i had my girl and thats been over 3 years.
