I have a 6 year old adult male ball python. I currently have aluminum foil covering a large portion of his screen lid to help keep in the humidity. I have to replace this foil every couple months as it tears when I take the lid on and off his tank and it also looks terrible. I am thinking of cutting a piece of plexi-glass the appropriate size and securing that to the top of the screen lid so I can do away with the foil. My question is, do I need to worry about any kind of off-gassing from the plexi-glass or is it safe to use on top of the screen? Has anyone else done something similar?
