 MY SNAKE DIED

igor was 7 months old and i woke up this morning to find him on his back, with blood on his vent and a partially digested rat, he had eaten four days before ??? :(

of course, his temps were around 87 in the day and about 75ish at night

His night temps are a little low, but not too low to hurt him I don’t think. How big was the rat?

As Ga mentioned in the other thread, onl yway to know for sure is to get the snake necro’ed.

However, with a nighttime drop to 75 and the regurg- perhaps that temp was way to low for th esnake to properly digest? is that 75 what the warm side goes to? I keep constant warm side temps, cool side temps are always room temp, and the room temp sually cools off a few degrees. Now, I am only speculating.

Have ytou seen anything weird in the snakes behavior? notice anything in its poop ( well, its too late now)

the rat wasnt that big, almost the exact size of his middle section. and 75 is the coldest part of the cool side. the warm side min. is usually around 80. he wasn’t acting strangely at all the day before, he was actually in a better mood than usual ? i’m not really trying for an explanation, i would have to go to the vet and have him take a look, i’m just making sure it’s not something i did wrong, since that would be incredibly unfortunate for my other ball :/
