If you Know that, why ask?

I have read on two manuals that the male should be removed from the female’s enclosure after mating, but a third states to leave the male in with the female for an additional day. Perhaps an experienced breeder on these forums can help with that part.

Should you house them together? No.

There’s always someone saying its ok, and people saying not to. But there is a fine example on the web (you can goggle it for yourself) of where someone left 2 balls together and the slightly smaller ball died ingesting the larger one it had killed. Cannibalism exists in Balls. Its rare, but why chance losing two wonderful snakes because you’re too lazy (or cheap) to buy a second enclosure?

As they’ve told you before: 1 snake = 1 tank/enclosure

I feel that Ball Pythons are not for the cheap. I have one and we’ve spent $280 dollars, roughly, learning how to make her happy. She just ate her first mouse last night (she let us know she was hungry) after getting her home last week, and she’s educated us on what temps she likes (Balls don’t read the manuals I read, wish they did). As I have been told by many breeders, both professional and amateur, "this is not a cheap hobby".

Wouldn’t that be nice if they did?! Ha Ha

I agree it is not a cheap hobby at all. $280.00? Wish we got away with that! We spent well over $1000 on all the stuff associated. Granted, we thought we needed a large tank and bought a 75 gallon with all the specs. Last vet bill alone was $150. But that is the price you pay to care for an animal. I actually wouldn’t call it a hobby as much as a way of life, at least for us! :)

Take care!

Male on Male will fight...

I have never let males together long enough for them to even hurt each other, but during breeding there are battles for dominance and for the snake lady.

With that being said, unless you know what you are doing, you should never put them together.
