These are CH, farmed in Africa....
Cost is around 25 for the one I want

But with shipping the cost is 65.
Plus he has this one "best offer"...

Honestly, I wouldn’t do it.

CH have a high mortality rate. Some don’t feed right, some don’t feed at all. Some have other problems that were passed on from the parent.

I just went through all this. I had a beautifu ball, very much like one in one of the pics. It was a male and it was "feeding great".

I soon learned that everything is not always factual or truth when told to you by someone you don’t know, or don’t know their reputation.

We got the ball in June, we lost it 3 days ago. We did everything, listened to everyone, tried prayer and vet. In the end what we learned was there are some types of balls you don’t want to touch and captive hatched are one of them.

So since I had gotten I don’t know how many books on balls in the last months, I started calling some of these "pros" and get their input. I wrote letters, used email, used contacts I have in publishing. I had to get help. That led me to a series of quality breeders, who led me to a guy locally I can get balls from who breeds them and can educate me further.

If you get one, just be patient and give it the full acclimation time (2 weeks) prior to trying to feed it and if it won’t - don’t be discouraged. Be patient and keep trying. Don’t force feed it unless as a last resort.

Not all CH go bad. Some are quite good and make excellent specimens.

I wish you best of luck... Keep us posted!

BTW, mine was nearly identical to the second one. I compared pics.

I agree with GA_whatever... If you want to get one, I’d pick the third one. The pattern is very nice and you just never know what will come from breeding it.

All 3 are very nice, but the last one is pretty hot.

Me... I would get all 3. :)

Lol...me too. All 3 are really nice snakes. Although I, personally, don’t know if I’m ready to deal with the possible feeding issues. I finally got my YB adult female (tha has hardly ever been handled) to hungrily take a F/T rat yesterday & I literally danced around. & that was only after having her for 13 days & having her skip last week’s meal. So I think I’d have a nervous breakdown...

The site is too small to see. I was wondering if you would be willing to post it. I am interested in a CH BP. I like the idea of getting something possibly ’new’ as far as genetics go.

I would not hesitate to get a CH snake.

Like anything else you research your importer, talk to people, ask for references, and check the BOI.

Rabernet has one of the best collection of female BPs, and I think the majority of those girls are CHs, all are thriving, all are top-notch.

Getting hatclings if tricky to begin with, without knowing what one is doing, getting a hatchling is not recomended. A baby can be "feeding great" but if the new owner does not set it up properly, or know how to care for it, then chances are it will not feed right away.

Part of being a responsible snake owner...

bruce

BTW: To the poster above me... CONGRATS on getting that snake to feed. :)

Best feeling in the world.

I personally would be more willing to take on a CH baby then a WC adult. I have to say to those that have the nerve for that congrats. That is not for me at least ATM.

Bush babies... 300-800g bps can acclimate OK, still need experience, but def better than an adult.

I have two WC adult females, got them in June/July and have been REALLY fortuneate to have one eating regularly at the moment.

He sells on Kingsnake
Link

I am not sure I could afford number three. but could afford 1 and 2...
I would someday like to breed. and have always wanted a black back or a stripe back like those.
You don’t see very many of those any more, I saw pics of them in the ball python books, but not much more these days.
I am guessing it is a recessive OR not genetic.. although there are some g. stripe out there... they seem far removed from that nice broad stripe down the back.

Yes, all but one are CH. I only have one CB female normal. It’s who you buy from that’s more important than the fact that they are CH. A well started CH from a reputable dealer is just as healthy as a CB one. After all, the snakes don’t know the difference if they are hatched in Africa and boxed up immediately and shipped here, or hatched in an incubator.

I’m a HUGE fan of CH babies, because of the unique patterns that are much harder to find in captive bred offerings. None of mine have had any issues with internal or external parasites.

Robin... which one isn’t a CH of your babes?

Only one I think off the top of my head is Hannah? Or is she an unknown?
