Quote: are they safe to keep around people form 7-40 years old
I got my first one for my son, when he was 5, and I am over 40 :o) They do not get big enough to seea human (evan an infant) as food. The only time they are Agressive is at feeding time, Or if they feel threatened (even if threatened, they will "ball up" [hence the name Ball Python] before striking), Or if some thing is Teribly Wrong in their enclosure (security issues, temps, humidity, etc.). They are gentle, not very active (although if given the chance, they will escape :o) They do however have specific Requirements for their environment... As with any snake, they Need Specific Enclosure Size, Temps, and Humidity Levels... Should be kept on a weekly feeding schedule (not oncea month or every two weeks). Do lots and Lots of research Before getting Any new pet... then do More. You Must remember... these wonderful creatures live 20-30 years... They don’t bark, skeak or meow when some thing is wrong! You have to know what they Need, and provide for them! These are "Have to be Commited to" pets!!! _____________________________________________ Make sure you have everything set up 48 hrs Before bringing home the new snake! This way you will know if you need to change or add anything Needed... plus you can make sure temp and humidity are where they ae supposed to be... without disterbing the newsnake! After you have accuired the new pet... Let it acclimate (get used to) the new enclosure for a mminimum of One Week. No Handling! No Feeding! They Need this time to adjust... without the added stress of human interuption! Post pics when you have gotten the encosure set up, so we can tell you if anything needs to be tweaked :o) _______________________________________________________ Here area couple of posts to read... Discussion of equipment Needed and Why... Setting Up Your Ball Python *Take 2* And if you don’t know how to post pics.... * * HOW TO POST PICTURES!!! * * |

Quote: that long of a post and no poop discussion?
Ummm ok ...for Juniper.... Occasionally you will find little white, rock like substances. These are Urrates. These are Excretions from Urine waste. Some times they can be yellowish... But believe me... you will Know when it poops! Looks like a tiny little cat turd, when they are young. As they grow... they will eventually look like a big dog turd - LoL Mine are 16 & 17 mos old.. poop about the size of a stogy (cigar). Also, when they are young... They will not poop as often ...as they will be "getting everything out of the prey" for nutrition. Some will poop once (or twice) a week Some will poop once a month Some go longer Happy now? |

That is 4-feet long? And 12-feet wide? That’s enough room for a large Retic!!! |

Quote: or u can do what i did when i got my first female BP:
Bring her home and let your mom find out about her on her own time No! Do Not do this!!! Quote: And pray to GOD she forgives ya!
And if she Doesn’t? Then you have made your mother furious, and... If she does Not want the snake in the house... you have a serious problem... *Finding a new home for the poor creature, and Taking Care of it till you do... How are you going to feed it, etc. - or even get the Proper equipment! This is totaly ignorant! I don’t normally "flame people" but...... This makes me so mad when you kids say this Crap!!! Quote: 21’ high tank and 4 foot long and 12’ wide
Pretty sure this was a typo - LoL - probably should have read - 21" high tank and 4 foot long and 12’" wide - Quote: the snake was supposed to be in... Were you told the snake issupposed to be in this, or the snake Is supposedly already in this?
Read the post in the link provided and get the Proper set up!! The enclosure should be 2/3 the length of the snake. Baby snakes should be started in a 5-10 gal enclosure, or a small tupperware tub. |
