 MITES HELP

Never had a problem with a ball having mites and want to know some methods to get rid of them.
So far I got rid of all the substrate and washed the cage out with hot water and put in paper towels. Then I soaked her in warm water for a half and hour and put her back. 3 days now and no mites but I feel they will return.

 MITES HELP

Not really sure that I can be of any help, but I do know that all of the "resident experts" on here will tell you that "Prevent-A-Mite" is the guaranteed way to get rid of them for good. If you do go that route, make sure you follow the directions to the letter. I don’t have any experience with the product, but have read on here that it works like nothing else.
Now I’m sure I will catch some flack over this, but I recently have become close friends with a breeder of ball pythons and boas. He uses "Seven Dust" (not sure if that’s how you really spell it) which can be found in most garden centers. He says that it has worked every time with no recurrence of mites when treated and no ill effects on the snake. Now I don’t know about this either, since I don’t have any experience in this area. But he has been breeding for a long time (close to 15 years). I tend to think that he does have a good deal of knowledge, but again I have no experience with this particular problem, so I advise that you take it for what it’s worth, so to speak.
I would assume that long term exposure to any of these chemicals would be hazardous, but you aren’t looking to have long term exposure.
Hope that gives you some info to work with.

 MITES HELP

I think ordering Prevent A Mite is the best option, it is the only thing to kill mites and their eggs.

Unless you knew what you were doing I probably wouldn’t mess around with gardening chemicals. If that particular breeder knows how to do it, that is good, but I don’t think the normal owner on here would hazard it.

I have to agree with that. Personally, I would spend the 30 dollars, or even more to have a product that was guaranteed to work, and be safe for my animals.
I just threw the seven dust out there because it was news to me as well. Obviously it does work, but like you said rocky, I wouldn’t be messing around with garden chemicals or commercial pesticides.

 MITES HELP

as stated before Provent A Mite is the way to go, any homemade remedy even if used by some people should be avoid as it can lead to severe neurological problems

Only one product is efficient on all stages of development of the mites (PAM) and it is Provent-A-Mite other product sold in pet stores only treat the adult stage which result in re-infestation in no time

PAM is used by many to treat and to prevent (1 can will go a long way) and here is where to find it
