Mites are not always that visible and also depending on the stage of development you can miss it so a good thing is to always have a can of Provent-A-Mite available and treat your new addition, because all it take is one mite or eggs that have just been laid.

Never use product designed for mammals.

DOES NOT WORK this cheap product will kill adult mites without effect on the egg or lice the only product that is effective at all stages and will get rid of mites for good is Provent-A-Mite, a can goes a long way I have 16 BP and every single one of them get treated soon as they arrive regardless of the source as a precaution because the last thing anyone wants is mites in their collection.

Here is where you can get it Link

Should be easy enough to find its getting hold of a credit card to buy it off the net. Once mites have been sorted out is there anyway they can come back, Not including substrate.

Pet store always make it sounds like having mites is part of reptile ownership however it is not I have 16 BP and no mites, I practice good quarantine and I am very careful when going to reptile shows and pet stores.

I’m in the UK too and my burm had mites, i used bye bye mites and i would highly recommend it! I haven’t had any trouble with mites since. It’s a direct spray so you spray the snake and work it in with your hands, the mites died instantly!

You are vey welcome! Also forgot to add.... the one adult mite (?) I did find looked like the top of a regular stick pin, only black. (or like a miniature black lady bug... "half circle").

Ick mites! Now I’m itchy! I’ll second what GA said. We have 15 snakes from three different species and have never seen a mite other than in a pet store. They are not common, should never be considered "no big deal" as they are a suspected vector for some pretty nasty diseases and a plain ole big pain in the butt to deal with.
