 Wattage Question

I have a 29 gallon tank, currently with a 50 watt bulb as the main heating source. I feel like the temps aren’t where they need to be, and the one female is always brown. I bought a 75 watt bulb once the 50 dies. Have you had luck with this wattage? The temps now are in the mid 80s at the basking spot, but I’m afraid of it getting TOO warm. Since I switched to a bigger tank, I’m still trying to figure out the perfect lighting system to maintain good temperatures, and I’ve heard that 75 watts is on the high end for anoles.

 Wattage Question

I think I’d rather put a pair of 50’s to create a larger basking area, but if all you have is one fixture, go ahead and put the 75 watt in there and take a temp reading. Maybe your girl will green up as well! Around 90* should be good. Are there any other potential causes for her being brown?

 Wattage Question

She was fine in a smaller tank with the same watt bulb, so it warmed easier. But since she’s now in a larger one, the temps are harder to spread about the whole habitat.
