2 Anoles- What’s going on?
O.k. so I have 2 green Anoles, that are both brown most of the time. I have noticed lately that the bigger one of the two (Onyx) Is bobbing the head alot and extending the throat flag. After Onyx bobs her head, then Gizmo (the smaller one) will bob her head as well. Then s Onyx i will move towards Gizmo. Gizmo will evade from Onyx. Onyx is almost twice as the size of Gizmo. What is Onyx doing? Should I be concerned with her behavior? Why are brown more than they are green? Should I get another Anole that is in between the 2 sizes that I have? I have a 30 gallon aquarium that they are in. Also, Onyx will take food right out of Gizmo’s mouth. Is this normal for the bigger one to steal from the smaller one? Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

2 Anoles- What’s going on? you need to get them out that cage. onxy will try and kill gizmo after a while. it seems to me that they are both boys. they are probably fighting over territory.

2 Anoles- What’s going on? The first thing that you need to do is to determine the sex of the two Anoles. Check on the underside just past the vent for a pair of enlarged postanal scales. If they are present, it is a male. If they are absent, it is a female.
You likely have one of the following two scenarios:
1) You have a mature male and an immature male. In this case, the larger male will intimidate the smaller and may eventually kill it.
2) You have a mature male and a female. In this case, the male wants to mate and the female doesn’t. (hence her avoidance of the larger male).
If, by chance, you have two females (doubtful) they will eventually settle down once a pecking order has been determined.
Read the care sheet, please.
