I really need some help please

i already went to the breeding forum and they never answered it so i came here to ask...
basicly I have one green anole and two grayish anoles (not sure what kind). Everytime I see them the bigger one is climbing ontop of the smaller one. I think the big one is a male and the other a female. Yesterday the small one was bobbing its head, and I read that meant it was looking for a mate. I also read that the male will bite the female around her neck but i have not seen this. Finally the green anole would like join in and climb onop of both of them. so whats happening......?

i don’t have anyway to take a picture but i know for a fact i have one green anole.
the other two look like:
-short like nose
-grayish tone
-dotted lines down there backs
-fatter than the green anole

its like a crocodile being the gray ones and an alligator being the green anole (like all the differences)

The description doesn’t sound like an Anole. Without a picture, there is no way to tell what you have.

i looked up brown anoles and they look just like them only the color is different for mine. Mine are just a dark gray instead of a darkish brown.

anole colors can vary. i know the green ones can go from dark brown to bright green but not sure about the brown. bobbing thier head can also be a sign of aggression among males

hmm its hard to determine without pictures but

my anoles had similar behavior for several months before actual mating occured. It may just take time.

thanks for that haha the male really seems like he wants to mate. I would always see him climb around and pause, bob his head and then move on to the next location. i female does not really move to much but like every so often the female would run away from the male, and i think that means she is not ready.

anoles are very intresting, My female never ran away and i believe wanted to mate. But my other female ran away and ended up being "caught" by the male.

Yea she has been staying away from the light and stays more in the shadows and the male would ignore her and just say on top of a branch

I was quite sure my females were brown anoles, as they sound like what you describe. Shorter nose than the male, grayish almost all of the time, with a diamond pattern down their backs. After taking them to the vet, they are indeed green anole’s. One way to tell, is at night after they go to sleep with the lights go off. If the females are turning green, they are green anole’s. (they may not always turn green). A brown anole can’t turn green, so if they do, there’s your answer. Mine are rarely if ever green except if i catch them on a really rare day.

Green Anoles are always green at night when they are asleep. Check in the wee hours of the morning when you are certain they are asleep. Since they can’t control their pigmentation when asleep, they revert to green coloration.

The dewlap color indicates that it is a male Brown Anole (Anolis sagrei).
