I have a large enclosure with three green anoles and do spot cleanings on the weekends. I believe a lot depends on what type of enclosure you have, the substrate, number of anoles, etc. It is worth noting that things can quickly get out of control if you don’t clean regularly. ..just a tip! A thorough cleaning should be done at least twice per year.

I generally scoop the substrate, clean the glass and all folliage in the tank as well as their climbing vines about every two weeks. I dump the whole tank and clean the whole thing, about every three months.

I tend to clean the entire thing about once a month or every two months. It takes a while for me to clean it but it’s worth it; like a zen garden of sorts, because I like arranging the plants and sticks. Plus it feels good letting the lizards back in after I’m done, into a nice clean and pretty setting.
