Sick Anole
This is the first time I have bought an anole. I bought two Nick and L.T., Nick passed away last week and now I think L.T. is going to die. He has the same symptoms, his skin is green with brown spots, black behind his eyes and is very thin. Is there any thing I can do for him? There is not a reptile vet close by, the closest one is 3 hours away. The temp in is take has currently been 85 degrees during the day and 75 degrees at night, I did have a heat rock in his cage until I read not to have one, that has been removed. I don’t know what else to do for him.

Sick Anole Your Anole is obviously under severe stress. Stress alone can kill an Anole, and in very short order. The key is finding the source of the stress. On this forum find Atrax’s care sheet and read it thoroughly, it could be any number of things causing stress, such as not the right food source, the right lighting, or not misting enough. Its hard to tell without knowing your care routine if any of those things or another is the problem.
You might do well to call your local veterinarian, who might be able to put you in contact with a herp vet that is closer. The phone book and internet lists are not very accurate as to herp vets in any given area.

Sick Anole Thank you for your help, unfortunately L.T. passed away around 8:00. My dad and I are going to bury him with Nick. You learn from your mistakes and I had put some sticks in their tank and didn’t realize I needed to wash them first. They most likely had parasites on them.

Sick Anole That could very well be it, raw sticks from the yard can carry not only parasites but pesticides you are unaware of. Generally baking wood in the oven for 1/2 hour at around 300 degress should kill most everything off. However, if pesticides may have been used in your area, avoid sticks all together.

Sick Anole If you are uncertain of the quality of "sticks" taken from outdoors, most pet stores have "limbs’ made of safe substances to use with your lizards. They use these happily to help rub off shed.
