I have never had it happen, but I believe it takes a solid three months or more before the tail grows back. It likely won’t look the same as an original, though. I have heard that anoles can only regrow a tail once, but I have no idea if that is true or false...just throwing it out there. Also, it is important to keep the anole well nourished while in the process of regrowing a tail. It will probably eat more food in order to keep up on energy.

It depends largely on diet. I have seen a reasonable re-growth at 3 weeks or so. They can re-grow a tail multiple times but it will get shorter each time. Since the new growth has no bone, only cartiledge, it will always be shorter and stubbier than the original. It will likely be a different color as well - usually a dark brown.

When I got one of my anoles the lady at the pet store picked it up by the tail. She offered to get a different one but i was worried noone would adopt it otherwise. It took about a month to fully grow back. Yes they can grow back multiple times, but it will not look the same. For my anole the tail is a different color and is stubby. Hope i helped
