The cause is likely environmental. The first order of business is to completely clean the enclosure. Remove everything, use a dilute bleach solution to clean all of the furniture and the interior and exterior of the enclosure. Make sure that you replace all of the substrate with fresh sterilized substrate. Rinse everything thoroughly and put the enclosure back together when all is dry.

The symptoms that you describe are consistant with a respiratory infection which commonly occurs in the fall and winter.

Most Anoles will not drink standing water from a water bowl. They prefer to drink by lapping up droplets from foliage or the sides of the enclosure. Please read the care sheet!

It appears simply from reading that you aren’t clearly reading the caresheets. Anole’s drink water droplets off leaves, needing to be misted a few times a day for drinking water.

Since you have not taken the sick anole’s to the vet, you have no way to know what caused this and how to prevent it. Without seeing the set up, its impossible to tell. I do not mean to sound harsh, however these are living creatures you are dealing with that obviously required medical attention to stop their suffering. If you are unwilling to take a sick animal to a qualified veterinarian, or can not afford to, do not have the pet. It is tantamount to animal cruelty. Just because Anole’s are small and cheap to buy (and sometimes free) does not mean they are unworthy of medical attention. They are not toys or amusement devices.

Since this is not the first time dealing with the same situation I would advise highly not getting another Anole. It is not fair or human to subject another lizard to an experiment to see if it will suffer the same fate.

There is something obviously wrong with the set up, handing, enclosure or food source for these animals.

People may not like my strong words, and I am not here to admonish you, simply that until it is figured out what is causing the deaths of these animals, you should refrain from keeping more, for their sake and yours.
