Take my, my 40-gallon for example, it has three 60 watt bulbs suspended across the back and two fluorescents (one ReptiSun 5.0 for UVB) and a GE Sunshine fluorescent (for additional light). The temperatures are spot on. Larger enclosures are easier to regulate than smaller ones since you can create a temperature gradient and maintain basking temperatures at multiple basking spots. Oh yes, I also have a computer "muffin fan" that I got for $1 at a computer junk store to provide air circulation. It exhausts air from the enclosure. |

But also make sure that you do get the UVB bulb if you do not have one. If you need to convince your mom to let you buy the light, tell her that without the light the anole can easily get Metabolic Bone Disease (like osteoporosis in reptiles), which you can easily find more information on by using the search tool on the forum. This disease can easily be fatal to your anole, and the UVB light will prevent it. |

And like Atrax said, you don’t need a fancy kind of bulb for a basking light. Just get a desk lamp, point it toward one side of the tank, and use a regular 60watt like your household already uses. |

You should be spraying the anoles about 2-3 times a day, I believe. They lick the droplets off the leaves, and tend to prefer that over learning how to use a water dish. You don’t want to spray the tank a lot. If you’re having trouble keeping humidity in, try spraying the substrate too. A 60 watt should be fine. If it doesn’t provide a high enough temperature (90 F) then you may have to up it to a 75 or 100 watt. Avoid heat rocks, they have been known to burn the anoles’ bellies. |
