I need help with breeding :(

I really want my anoles to breed!! I have one male and one female in an enclosure for two weeks and I just got another female and a golden gecko yesterday and they’re all in the same tank together. The male and one female have been together for 2 weeks and I’ve been wondering why they haven’t been breeding. Am I being impatient??? I think the female I got yesterday is a bit fat. Is she pregnant? (I’ll post an image of her tomorrow). Oh one more thing: is it true that if you hold them up to a strong light, you can see the eggs inside her??? Thanks

The Anoles and Geckos should be in seperate enclosures. Just because you haven’t seen them mating doesn’t mean that they haven’t been. No, if you hold an Anole up to the light, you can’t see the eggs- their skin is NOT transparent.
What are the environmental conditions in the enclosure? Size, temperature, temperature gradient. humidity, etc.?

Well, they’re in a 30 gallon tank with bark as the subtrate. The temperatures are between 80-85 during the day, and about 75 at night. They have hiding places but no branches or plants. do you think that the gecko is intimidating them????

Probably. It isn’t wise to mix species. There are environmental concerns as well as disease problem between species.

Do you think I should use a different subtrate? Is sand a good subtrate for incubating lizard eggs?

Or, do you think soil is a better choice for anole eggs and collard lizards.

Best is Vermiculite - you can get it at a gardening center. It is sterile and holds moisture well.

I know that vermiculate is the best choice, but if I can’t find it is a mixture of eco earth and organic soil good?

That will work but make sure that you put it in the microwave or oven to sterilize it. You may still have problems with mold.
