Incubators?
I had my house gecko eggs in a small gladware tupperware with holes punched in the top filled about an inch with potting soil(without perlite) and kept them at around 82F.I kept them at the top of my closet(we have shelves up at the top by a repti bulb and it’s around 85 so the tupperware was between 80-85 on the inside).I misted the edges twice a day or more depending on how dry the soil looked. Unfortunately, my cat decided to jump off of a laundry basket and slam into the wall headfirst, sending the incubators flying.I don’t think they made it but they haven’t changed in color and they continued to shape(they got larger if that’s supposed to happen).I don’t know if I should give up on them or what.I don’t want to just throw them out only to find out later that they were actually still alive. It’s been around 41 days since they were first laid. I also tried putting my brown anole eggs in the same type of incubator and they just shriveled up.Both house geckos and anole roam wild here so I tried to copy a replica of what they would be facing outside but nothings been happening. Is it my incubator? Can someone post pics of their successful incubators so that I could see what I was doing wrong? Thanks, Reptigal94 JoAnne |

1. 5.5 gal tank 1. submersible water heater 1. critter cage 1. bag of vermiculate 1. brick 1. plastic lid for the tank. (You can always use plastic wrap with holes in the top as well) 2. thermometers 1. humidity gauge Sooo, here’s how i set it up.... I filled the tank with about 3-3.5 inches of water. Then, I placed the water heater on the bottom of the tank towards the back (make sure you have one with adjustable settings). Next, I placed the brick on the bottom of tank. Then, I filled the critter cage about half-way with the vermiculate and dampened the vermiculate. Next, I placed the critter cage on top of the brick. Then, I placed a ther mometer inside the critter cage and on inside the actual tank. Then, I placed the lid on and then I was ready to go. Oh, by the way, make sure that the temperature in the critter cage is about 84-85 degrees. And when you have the heater with the adjustable temps, make sure it on the lowest setting (you might have to raise the temp of the heater if the eggs are getting cold). Majke sure your temps are right before you put the eggs in the critter cage. Your incubator should be in a cool room. (75-80 degrees) |
