okay, my friends green anole just had an egg and im going to incubate it. tell me if i got this right cause i dont want to screw this egg over. i have an ice chest with a brick on each side and an under water heater under them. on top of the bricks i have one of those wire things you cook with on your grill. the ice chest is filled with water up to the wire thingy and on top of the wire i have a glad container with paralite in it with the egg right below the surface. then i turn the heater on, close the chest and wait. right?!? all help will be mucho appreciated.

alright i changed it a little bit. now i have a glass aquarium with two bricks in it and the wire deal on that. water filled up to the top of the bricks, and a glad container filled with perlite with the egg just under the surface. i have a 4 in., 7.5 watt heater in the water, theres a lid over the glad container with holes in it by the way, then i covered the top with foil. good? bad? terrible? also, will the baby anole crawl to the top of the perlite or do i have to dig around for it? what do i feed it and how? can i make perlite the substrate in the tank until it gets older? will it die if it hatches in the night and i dont get to it until the morning? can i handle it to get it tame (i know not to do it for like, a week or two)? temps and humidity? sorry about all those questions. just want to do this right.

thanx leafygreen

Get a small/medium deli dish. Punch some small holes in the top to allow for air circulation. Fill it 3/4 full of moist Vermiculite. Make a depression with your thumb and place the Anole egg in in taking care not to turn it from its original position. Cover it lightly with moist Vermiculite and incubate it at 82-85 degrees and it should hatch in 35-40 days. Make sure that you keep the Vermiculite moist and the deli dish cover on.

Your incubator theoretically will work but you are complicating things. Use Vermiculite rather than Perlite since it retains moisture much better (Perlite is also a hazard for accidental ingestion). The hatchlings will emerge from the Vermiculite so you will need to have a screen cover for your aquarium. New hatchlings can be fed pinhead crickets, flightless fruit flies wild caught leafhoppers (which they love, by the way).

I think he just did.You might want to abandon your method and follow his.Or if persistant on your method, continue with it and do what you think needs done. It’s your choice

The humidity will naturally drop if you let the Vermiculite dry VERY slightly.

That question makes no sense. Temperture and humidity are two different things.
