We have less then a week to act on this. Please go to the following websites regarding information on your rights to own your pets. This website has a video that explains the bill. It explains to you what is at risk and how you can do something about it. Plus they even took the courtesy to make it easy for you to send emails and locate the people you need to contact. Make sure we have a post on all our forums. If there is not a post in other forums then please add one. This will be one of the few times we are allowing some spamming. For members that have been keeping on top of things please keep members here updated. That would be greatly appreciated. I thank every member that contacted me personally on this subject as well. You will find other things you can do to help by reading some of the HR669 posts already circulating on the forum. This does not include just reptiles, it is for All animals, with the exception of those listed. Write as many letters/emails as you can. There are sample letters at many diferent web sites. You can add some of your own words. Just keep it civil and to the point. Remember to use proper punctuation, and paragraphing. A letter written/typed in an on-going sentence, or no breaks in the subjects/point, will be hard to read. Good Luck! I have sent out more than 200 emails to friends, family, people I do not know, and congressmen/women and representatives, radio stations, news rooms, etc. Marg KEEP THIS BUMPED TO THE TOP. Whether a person has an interest in keeping non-native species or not, that fact is this bill is the wrong way to approach this invasive species problem as it is written. Individuals "blowing it off" because they think someone else will step up and protest is exactly what ends in these pieces of ridiculous legislation being passed. It is really easy to go to the linked site and send the form letter to your representatives under your name. You don’t even have to come up with anything of your own to say. Just send the letter they have made up and let it be known that you do not support the bill and wish for your representatives to vote no. The more voices saying no the better. |
