In the wild when they are stressed or trying to find ’mama’ and siblings’ they do a grunting noise to gain access to the locations of family ie "mama where are you" or "Hey louie where did ya go" in the wild you will see babies but Not the mother the mother tends to hide and keep watch... thats their way of gaining the attention of the others... what the mating is... is not a grunt the males will throw their heads back lift up on front legs to appear large position theirselves and let out a loud bellow.. (And if you have NEVER heard one in the wild it will scare the crap out of you) its LOUD, growing up I remember the bulls doing it in a large area on our ranch and it was just...well we didnt visit the canals much.... essentially if your not stressing your baby out (they do a stress call) hes trying to find out where your position is... stress calls are different same sound but when your messing with them, they will open their mouths and ’grunt’ basically "Yo Mom I got this big predator on my butt can you come eat him" |
