 A temperment quiestion
i have a baby american alligator he is a biter sometimes im just curious if he will tame down once he gets bigger? i also have snakes and know that when they are small they have a BIG attitude to make up for their size i am just wondering if the gator will be the same way i will keep him either way i am just curious if i will be able to hang out with him once he is 7 ft or if he will be more to just look at and not as much of a pet as he is now..... also my dad knew a guy in hell michigan that had a american alligator and he used to swim with it in the lake i dont know all the specifics like if he taped the mouth or had it on some kind of leash im sure he would have to since it was a chain of seven lakes and without some kind of leash device the gator would dissapear in the lakesLOL well any help is greatly appreciated......

i heard that the american alligator will grow to know their owner im not too sure, ps thanx for the answer about the plants in the aquarium and just a reminder if you have any fear of your gator i know this may sound like im psycho but my gator bit me and now i have no fear of him at all it made me grow closer to him believe me it hurts like hell.

well i dont really fear him i have been bite several times on the hands and then last night i had a few drinks and thinking i was the i tried to kiss him on his head between his eyes and got bite on the lip and the noise and the lip and it did hurt but seeing as he is only 18 inch’s he just drew some blood and i have some puncture wonds and scratch’s on my noise and my lips...... so im not really scared of him and i handle him at least once a day usually more then that. today i built him a new indoor enclosure that is 10ft long and three ft wide and probaly about 4ft deep its really nice and then i have an outdoor enclosure for nice warm days its a pretty decent sized pond. 
heres a pic of the tank when it was half done i will have to take pictures now to show what it looks like finnished enjoy

hey thats great im glad to see that you really care for your gator i wouldnt give mine up for nothing im so attached to him. ps the enclosure is nice.

He should calm down pretty soon and the bigger the calmer in most cases but always know that it is a wild animal and that it can bite and be alert and don’t assume anything.......
