Babies and Parents??
Hi everyone, I am new to my alligator lizards, I have two. One ended up being pregnant and having two babies. The four of them seem to be getting along fine. Dad is very protective, momma seems that she is starting to recooperate FINALLY! BUT!!!! For the first time the other day the babies finally got the chance to eat cuz the momma and dad have been eating everything. But I noticed that when one of the babies got ahold of a small cricket the dad came up and started to chomp on the cricket and steal it out of the babies’ mouth. The baby wouldn’t let go so the dad went to drastic measures and chomped on the babies’ head.... the baby ended up squiggling out of it and he seems to be doing alright. Hides alot more than usual though. But is this normal? Should I be removing tha babies because the parents will end up eating them? Please let me know asap!! THANKS!

Babies and Parents?? yup def!!!!!! remove the babies in a seperate container sounds like you got really lucky that one little allie didnt get eaten, cause alligator liz do not offer any type of parental raising once the babies are born they have to fend for themselves and there is a good chance the parents would end up eating them

Babies and Parents?? Ditto to Hunter Breed’s post
In lizard world, mommies and babies don’t do so well together. Sad, but true. Whip those babies out of cage soon!
