What are you feeding your babies???

I just had 16 eggs hatch. What are all of you feeding your young? These things are tiny. Not sure if wingless fruit flies are too small. Right now, I’m going up into the mountains to look under rotten logs and such.

any chance these are the from the your red allies???? i hope soo haha, but any ways i just go to the store and buy the smallest crickets they have, if they got pinhead crickets thats perfect but with my babies i could only find just reg small crickets and they were able to eat those easily,

i just got back from my hiking trip and my brother actually found a alligator lizard at about 9,000 elevation he said it was almost black and pretty thick but he wasnt able to catch it or take any pics, and when i got there it was gone,
hey didnt you catch a maderen alligator liz from arizona?? did you keep it?

Yep. You’re right. They ate the smallest crickets I could buy. It was a challenge for them, but they managed.
Mama is red, but she came in gravid, so I don’t know what papa looked like. They are already showing some color variation, but I imagine they won’t really show their stuff till next year.

Almost exactly two months to hatching. The substrate was vermiculite - lightly moistened. Temps. around 82 degrees F. All 16 hatched, although one survived only a couple days. The rest of them however, are doing really well and have all fed. Here is the first one emerging...

BTW - Affirmative on the Madreans. I think we have a pair.
Now, if some of our friends from the north would kindly send me a pair of nice looking E. corulea, that would be nice. Then, a Texas Alligator Lizard (Gerrhonotus infernalis) would round out the collection really well.

She’s new - found running around in someone’s house. Laid eggs right after she was apprehended. Maybe I could meet you in LA sometime, but there’s still that empty lot I mentioned - if you can get in there.
