 Our reds

I own the male, female is on loan from a friend till we get some eggs out of her. The photo doesn’t do them justice - a little washed out. Maybe I’ll take another without the flash. Much better in natural light.

was wondering were you found your reds or the other owner found them, maybe they are more common in a certain area? my was from yorba linda where my grandpa found my red with two other allies but the other was normal color and the other one was almost yellowish but i didnt keep those

mine still looks young def id say 2 yrs old at the most maybe its only one yr old but by next spring im sure she will be ready to breed

They’re both from the Chatsworth area in the western San Fernando Valley (NW part of Los Angeles County). I hear that Placerita Canyon has a lot also. It seems that the reddish color is recessive since there seems to be populations where it occurs in greater frequency than elsewhere, but is still less common than the typical gray/brown ones living there.

You’re right! They both shedded today, and their color is much more striking now.

These are some absolutely gorgeous lizards! They MUST breed for me.

Only had these a couple months as well. If I get some eggs out of them, we’ll work something out, but I promised some to the people who caught them for me, too.
