 Help i think my baby alli got eaten

I found a baby Alli about 2 days ago and just found the mother, i put both of them in same cage and i cuple hours later the baby is gone..is it possible that it is hidding in the soil or is it deffinitly a gonner ]=? Please HELP!!!!!

Allis in general will eat almost anything that moves and can fit in there mouths and lizards are not the best mothers. Depending on the size of the baby it is VERY possible that the larger lizard ate it, but then again allis do enjoy there quiet time in the dirt. Scrape around and see if you find it, but don’t be surprised at all if the mother just partook in a protein rich meal.

the baby was about 4-5 inces long while the mother i think its a female was about 7-10 inches...well thanks anyways /-=

Put the adult in a secure container and sift through the substrate first. If the baby is not there, it was most likely eaten. Alligator lizards do not have any maternal instincts, so they will eat their own babies if they are hungry.They will also eat other lizards and animals, so they must always be house separately.

I’m sorry for your loss, but now that you have learned I’m sure you won’t make the same mistake twice. Sometimes we must learn our lessons through ways that aren’t so pretty. No one is perfect.

I’m not sure about the sex of your lizard due to the angle of the photo, but I would say it looks female to me. Males are generally sexed by having large arrowhead shaped heads and brighter colors, but even those methods can sometimes be wrong.
