 I’m Worried

I have a older Southern Alligator Lizard. I changed is sand to walnut shells and he started to climb the side walls. So I changed him back to his original sand. He is still climbing the side walls and now he is so sore from climbing he is pink on the back all of his four legs. Please someone help me!

Get some dirt made from coconut fiber and add some dry leaves, branches, and rocks. Put some fake plants in there as well. It sounds to me like your cage is either too small or too plain and boring.

By the way sand is kind of dangerous and dry for an alligator lizard.
