 Are meal worms safe for alligator lizards?

i thought about feeding my alligator lizard mealworms.is it safe?Also ,anyone know how many meal worms you must start with to breed them?

Eh, while I wouldn’t call them an out right hazard to allies, their hard shell can be very hard for them to digest and they can become lodged in the intestines causing impaction. I’d stick to crickets, roaches, and soft worms.

meal worms are pretty big and my lizard eats 3 crickets a day but how many crickets would ecual on mealworm?

Mealworms are very high in fat. They should be fed as a treat only (no more than 1 or 2 worms a week). Crickets should make up the majority of the diet.

no ones answering me in the mealworms forum and im breeding them but i need to ask this to anyone thats a mealworms breeder...is it ok to feed dead mealworms to lizards like the ones that turned blackish?how can you tell if they are turning into pupae?is it normal for someof them to die at first?
