 Ive Always Wondered. . .

I live in western Canada. We only have northern alli’s out here. and I’ve been wondering, what do most people prefer? Northern or Southern alli’s? Is there a difference other than northerns looking completely different and giving live birth? I’d prefer northern alli’s, i like there personality over southerns. no offense or anything. dont want to start any fights. so. . . which do you prefer?

awsome!!!!i live in canada british columbia man where are you thats awsome we can meet lol i have a northern alligator ..my dad caught one from the golden lake i dont know if you live in BC but thats kool and i prefer northerns cause i like them and i prefer the ones that are fat and cute.. :)and thats true about how northerns give birth instead of laying eggs cause mine did lol.

I think that more people that own Southerns are on this forum, and that’s why you hear so much more about them.
I personally don’t think there is a personality difference, but then again I could be wrong....

Some people say northerns are more aggressive, and vise versa. I haven’t been around enough northerns to truly chime in on that statement.

I prefer southerns, mainly for their appearance. Northerns, what we call northerns, look like southerns that never lost their baby color.

As for my favorite allie out of all allies; abronia oaxacae.

Yes, I live in BC. I live in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. not sure how these lizards even got on the Island. Ive never been bitten or "threatened" by a northern before. so i dont think they are aggressive at all. i prefer northerns appearances over southerns. but there are some really cool looking southerns out there.

ive also noticed that every alli ive caught has tamed almost instantly, relaxing and falling asleep in my hands.
i was surprised one day to find a HUGE male. about the length from my elbow to the tip of my fingers, and about 4 inches wide , 2 inches stomach to back. it was massive, so i named it DXL (Double Extra Large) He tamed immeadiatly. i almost thought he was a Blue Tongued Skink.

A guy who catches Northerns and Southerns told me that the Northerns were a bit less vicious. If you look up Northern Alligator Lizards on google images you don’t see any pics of them trying to bite until the third page. If you do the same with Southern Alligator Lizards there are several trying to bite on the first page.
