I’m sorry but I think alis are EVIL. Most people just have them cause they look cool.]:

The best way to keep Sharky happy is to keep his cage clean and the substrate damp, I’ve noticed with my ali that he likes his substrate 3-4 inches deep (he loves to burrow), I keep his cage at 70-80% humidity depending on how humid the day is, I feed Oscar 3-5 one-half inch long crickets every other day, and keep his cage at about 75*F. And as far as ali’s being "evil", I disagree with that statement, they are just like any other wild reptile, they don’t like being handled and will gladly bite the hand that feeds if it is too near their mouth. If KOvet wants a reptile that isn’t "evil", he should think about an iguana.

i dont keep my soil too damp...ive noticed that when ever i make it too damp the dirt gets into my allies eyes so i damp the soil only half of the tank...just make a realistic enviroment and its fine...alligators usually act like they are emo...lol... so dont worry

When I make the substrate in Oscar’s cage damp, I usually just pour a cup of warm water in and mix it around until I can grab a handful and it retains the shape of my fist when I let it go. I only do that once a month in the cooler seasons, and once every 2 weeks during the summer.

Alligator lizards definitely aren’t "evil" but they definitely are not for everyone. They don’t like people, and we, as care givers, need to learn to accept that. Enjoy their beauty, beware their attitude, respect their space.

Was the iguana part sarcasm or are you serious? Iguanas don’t always make the best pets, especially hormonal males. However, they are definitely more tolerant than alligator lizards. Now if you want a scaly lap dog go for a BD.
