Found a baby alli in my house

This is the second time in 20 years that I have found an alligator lizard in my house! Heck if I know how they get in. They’d have to climb stairs to get in!

This one is only about 2 1/2" long with it’s tail. It is very very cute with the head being much rounder than I thought an alli would have since the other one was an adult with a much narrower head. Really does remind me of a baby alligator. I don’t know how long it has been in my bathroom in the dirty clothes pile!
I tried to buy some pinhead crickets but all the stores are out of them. Any suggestions for food and water?

I want to release it in my yard tomorrow, but not now since it’s evening and a little cooler. I worry a little bit about being in my front yard, suburban yard with lawn and sidewalk and a little bit of bushes & flowers. We water the lawn and I often water my flowers later in the evening and I would think this would make the lizard cold at night. Also, I think a crow or two frequents our yard so it might be a dangerous place for a baby.

Any suggestions for a better release place?

Releasing it is the best option. Raising such a small baby is extremely difficult.

Putting it back in your yard is its best option, as its most likely already used to the area. Don’t worry about it getting to cold, these lizard have built in instincts that tell them what to do for almost every situation they run in to. In reality allies don’t even like really hot weather. Anything above 90 tends to send them into hiding.
