Snakes active in Texas in January?

Hello folks, I’m trying to find out if it is possible that my son’s dog could have got snake bitten. I live in the city of Waco, the heart of the city. We believe that he shows all the signs and symptoms of a snake bite, including two fang marks. My concern is for my grandchildren. I have 3 toddler grandson’s that play outside all the time and I’m worried they are going to get hurt. I know that my son’s dog stays in the yard and doesn’t wander off any further. Is it possible that a snake was out this time of year?

Maybe the dog stumbled across one of the snakes hiding places by some chance

I would agree with Takahiro. The dog may have found a snake and "investigated" too much. I hope he/she is OK.

Your dog very well may have been bitten by a snake. I would not stall, but get the dog to a vet in any possibility that it may be venomous.
