 New Cali Kingsnake always burrowed

I got my first snake yesterday, a 7 month old california kingsnake. I’ve had lizards before but always wanted a snake. I got him yesterday around 10 am put him in his tank, the warm side is 83 degrees but immma get a higher wattage lamp today, and cool side is 75 degrees, shaved aspen bedding a climbing tree, large water bowl and a log enclosure to hide under and a under tank heater.

My problem is almost immediately my little buddy burrowed and has not come out since yesterday morning, i can see where he travels under the bedding. at the shop he wasnt burrowed at all.

I know he is prolly nervous but what is the best way to get him acclimated with his new home, his next feeding day is tomorrow then tuesday

Thanks yall and if there is any advise you can give a new snake owner let me know!

its been a few days , i took him out to try to feed him saturday. he wouldnt eat but he wasnt aggressive and didnt musk when i handled him to switch cages. when i put him back in his cage he explored a lil then burrowed, later that night he came out again to explore, but he once again disappeared. im gonna change his water again today, under the water bowl is his favorite hiding spot, but imma try to fing him a good rock to hide under on the hot side

I know my Mexican Black King only uses his drift wood at night to lay on some times. Otherwise I got him a fake plant that mounts to the side of his tank reaches from the top to the bottom and he loves climbing in it and spends most of his time curled up on the very top of it. HE also buried himself alot when I first got him. I tried the real plants that you can buy for snake enclosures othere then his drift wood and cave and water bowl and he cam out alot more. He still buried himself but since I got him that fake plant on the side of his cage the only time I don’t see him is when he’s in his cave. Also got to remember it’s new for him so it will take some time to adjust. I like your set up but I personally would provide a little more ground cover that way he feels more secure when he goes to explore atleast until he gets use to his new home but, thats my opinion. Well good luck with your king.

Thanks. Oh I know about parents not letting snakes my mom told me when I lived with her no snakes she didn’t care if it was locked in my room with a dozen locks on it no snakes were coming in her house. lol Also if you look close in my tank pic you can see my little mexican black king chilling in his plant near the top.
