 His legs wont work(help)

I have four blue bellies that i caught from the wild and have had for a year . I have a male and female in each cage.in the last two months both males quit eating. one has become very limb when being held and will only move when the lights go on and off. the other wont use his back legs when rooming around the cage, also he stops moving and becomes very stiff when being handle . when i put him back down he’ll take a deep breath and open his eyes like if he were just waking up.I’ve also walked into the room and seem the second male with the leg problems flat on his back trying to get back over.he seems to have problems with his balance.
both females seem to be very active and fat

What’s the cage size? Do they have UVB/UVA lighting? Do you dust the food? What are you feeding them? Temps? Humidity? Substrate? Do they have things to climb on/hide in?

One thing it’s never a good idea to catch lizards in the wild and bring them into captivity cause they usually do have problems. Sounds like Metabolic Bone Disease or MBD. It is a calcium and/or vitamin D3 deficiency. They need D3 to synthesize calcium which is needed for their bones. I would take him to a qualified herp vet and in the mean time make sure you do get the uvb/uva tubes, and calcium with vitamin D3 dust and dust the food every feeding. Also make sure he has a good basking spot.

I use both a florescent aquarium bulbs ,and a heat lamb with a reptile bulb from the pet store both on timers. It never gets above 85. I use reptocal for a calcium dust with meal worms as treats .plenty of things to roam and play on. The last pair i had lived three years. i never once had a problem with them.

Regular aquarium bulbs are not what you need and the reptile bulb for heat is just that....for heat. These animals are suffering from vitamin deficiencies. The powder you use can only be processed with proper access to UVB light sources.

Sun glo is ok it’s an incandescent bulb for basking...not uvb/uva. Full spectrum used for fish isn’t the same as a reptile UVB/UVA light. You need atleast a 10.0 one, I suggest reading this

http://www.beautiful dragons.503xtreme.com/Research main.html

take the spaces out of it and copy and paste it into your browser

I would use repti-sun 10.0. It needs to run the length of the cage they sell them at different lengths. LINK

UVB/UVA tubes aren’t used for heat. I would research the exact species you have, and see what temperature they need for the basking spot and yes you can use incandescent bulbs for that
