 Please help identify me!

Hi everyone. We have no experience with lizards whatsoever, but found this little creature on an imported fern (doesn’t say where it’s from) we bought from a greenhouse yesterday. We live in Canada, and have no naturally occurring lizards in our area at all - one kind of skink and a few salamanders are as close as we get! Considered a "she" by my daughter until we find out otherwise, her body is very thin, and about one inch long. Her tail is about another inch. She has V-like markings down her spine, and reddish bands almost, on her back legs.

So far, we’ve set her up in a 5.5 gallon tank with a screened lid that she can’t escape from. (She made it through the plastic slats in the terrarium we tried the first time around.) She has eaten at least one small cricket that we got from the pet store, and has also been drinking water that we misted onto the plastic leaves in her habitat. I have not put a heat lamp on as she is so small I would not want to bake her. We have set up a desk lamp near one side of the tank, though, so she does have some small heat source.

Let me stress again that I know nothing about lizards. Looking on Google, however, she would appear to have a lot of the qualities of an Anole. She even seems to change her coloring from light brown to a darker brown depending on what she is standing on. Any advice in terms of identification and care would be greatly appreciated as we are already quite attached to her and would like to keep her alive and happy if we can!

Thanks so much in advance.

I’d say either a brown (Bahaman) anole, or a house gecko. Just off the top of my head. Good luck finding out.

Thank you, Repfanatic. I found a picture of a female baby brown anole and it looks identical to ours, right down to the individual markings. We’ll go on the assumption that that’s what she is for now. Thanks again!
