Green iguana

Other Species or Phases this Care Sheet May Cover:

all herpivoure iguanas

Sexing and Characteristics:

Male have three bumps above the vent which is located under the base of the tail
whilest a female only has one
if you want to bee a 100% sure then i recommend going to the vet for sexing.
iguanas have a mixed attiude some are very nast and some are harmless but in either situation you should repect it

Mostly Active During:

Day

Substrate and Water Needs:

There has been debates about substrates but i say that you can use papertowels, newspaper, top soil and reptile carpet but there mostly off the ground.
water is very important as they live in a humid area so i use a cat litter tray about chess high of the iguana

Lighting and UVB:

Uvb and uva is the key health matter as the lowest uv you should use is 5.0 but after they run out use the most updated like right now i use a 10.0.
as a basking light i use either a uv power sun or a heat glow but either one they have to be 60 watts for me

Temperatures and Humidity:

The day time temperature should be high 70f to midd 80f and the basking light should not be above 95f
these reptile live in the rain forest so the humidity should be around 70 to 90 this can be abtained by adding a cat litter tray everyday

Heating and Equipment:

Ceramic Heater can be used or spot lights a heat mat can be used or heat cable NO HEAT ROCKS OF ANY KIND CAUSES BURNS

Caging Provided:

The smaller the cage is the more stressed they will get a good size for a baby is 4x,4x,4x but they grow QUICK so be prepared to provide a cage about 7 foot tall 5 foot wide and 5 foot in lenght

Diet:

Herbivorous

Description of Diet:

NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS iguanas are strickly only herbivorous they eat mustard and collard greens, romaine, watercress, or the most cheapest dandilions you can add a bit of bit of flavour in there by adding friut

Supplements, Nutrition and Usage:

I use pure calcium every other day and multivitamins weekly
